SWEEDHART – Separation of weeds during harvesting and
hygienisation to enhance crop productivity in the long term

Convential harvesting proces

Conventional harvesting process

Usually, straw and chaff are thrown back on the field behind the harvester. Chaff contains herbicide resistant weed seeds. Throwing them back on the field evokes a multiplication of weed infestation on fields. Sweedhart will “re-design” the conventional processing on harvester by considering new chaff treatment measures. The Sweedhart approaches are:

Hygienisation of weed seeds in chaff (Pillar 1)

Total harvest of fields (Pillar 2)

Partial harvest (Pillar 3)
